All of history is a narrative of the fight for Liberty between those who would rule over themselves and those who would rule over them. Our founding fathers understood the importance of diffuse power vested in the hands of the citizens to preserve and protect against the corruptions of centralized power. Protecting our Liberty is the fundamental idea behind the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution and the greater government grows, the more necessary the 2nd Amendment becomes.
In addition to protecting ourselves from the corruption of centralized power, widespread, responsible gun ownership also serves to strengthen our communities and make us all safer. Gun control laws have served to restrict law-abiding citizens for decades while those who have no intention of respecting the law or other people continue to procure guns illegally. It is time we realized that the best method of preventing these criminals from harming us is for each of us to protect ourselves.
